Latest reports page

I was wondering what visitors to my site thought about replacing my 'latest reports page' with this mullbirds blog, as there may be some duplication, and I would appreciate any comments either by e-mail or through this blog.

  1. I like the idea of using the blog for receiving your 'latest news' but I wonder if it would be as accessible to as many of your readers.

    All the best,

  2. I would say go for it, it looks really smart and a great way just to get the reports regularly. I like the way its a bit more interactive too. Keep up the good work Alan!

  3. Blog rather than latest news everytime Alan. The blog allows you to be more detailed, and conversational if you wish.It is much more interactive and has the potential to involve your readers more. The success of Dave Sexton's Mull Sea Eagles blog and the Loch Garten Osprey Centre blog should be enough evidence of the above.

  4. I would agree with all the above comments - the only thing I would add is whether people will contribute on the blog - people may not have the confidence to start with - I set up on group on Facebook and have 179 members but probably only about 20 actually contribute - I guess the rest just browse - on the other hand it is more conversational and you can get a dialogue going - I would say keep both going to start and see how it goes!

  5. Just dropping by - from down south in Chilly berkshire - would love to drop in and find out what you've seen - as a not frequent enough visitor to Mull - I can get a mental picture of where you are and what you are seeing. lesley t in Newbury

  7. Alan, ashamed to say that have only just found this!

Blogs are good because they're more personal and you don't feel embarrassed about asking about bird identification or being late with posting things - like the 20 odd curlew feeding by the northern side of Loch na Keal last week. You can send in fairly positive sightings that others are also fairly positive about but visibility wasn't good - that helps when others come in.

It will also be good for the learner visitor as well.
